Move over all you wonder foods and super drugs, there’s a new kid on the block and its name is Argan oil.
This oil is made from the nuts of the Argan tree which is found only in Morocco, which is why this oil is also sometimes called Moroccan Oil.
The nuts are broken open and the kernels are then pounded and mixed with water. When the dough that is produced from this exercise is kneaded then the oil is released and collected.
The oil can be used in cooking, although if this is the intended final product then the kernels are usually roasted before being broken up. This leads to a more golden oil with a nutty taste.
But our oil, which is used with great results on skin and hair, is light in colour and very delicate.
Delicate, in that it should be kept in a cool environment in a opaque container as sunlight can spoil it.
This oil is rich in vitamin E, which is a powerful anti oxidant and helps to rid our bodies of the carcinogenic free radicals.
But from a beauty standpoint it helps to repair split ends and has also been shown to arrest the advancement of gray hair.
It also encourages the formation of capiliaries under the scalp which in turn increases circulation and helps produce healthier hair. This occurs because the capiliaries bring nutrients to the hair folicle where new hair is produced. It is one of the best vitamins for hair growth.
Heat damaged hair can be softened and made to shine by the application of vitamin E.
Argan oil also contains fatty acids which act as a barrier in the hair and skin to stop moisture escaping.
To use you simply take a small amount and rub it between you palms. Then rub it gently into the strands of your hair or over your skin. You will find it is absorbed completely and leaves no messy residue.
So to conclude Argan Oil for hair or skin use should be a part of your everyday beauty regime. Use it daily and you will see a difference.
